NZ Serpentine Tiki Sculpture (6a)

$1,000.00

Serpentine from the Arahura River was used in this one of a kind Tiki sculpture carved by Peter Tauwhare.

Peter Tauwhare’s whakapapa traces back to the Arahura river where he sources much of his stone to work with in his small studio not far away.

Using only the most rudimentary tools he applies his craft with a heartfelt karakia to his Ancestors to guide his hand before he starts to breathe life into his creations.  Incredibly talented Carver with a unique style of seeing what lies beneath the surface of the stone brings this out in an almost neolithic style that would be hard to match.

I always feel I am looking at something ancient and other worldly when I am holding a piece of his art.

Measurements:

240 mm height

160 mm width

35 mm depth

This will be the exact piece you will receive in the photos, there may be a slight degree of colour variation based on different computer or mobile phone screen resolutions that you are viewing from.

Behind Tiki

Hei Tiki is a symbol of fertility and good luck. It is also said to bring the wearer strength of character, allowing one to be loyal, clear-headed and perceptive. The Tiki will often be depicted with its tongue poking our for protection.

We love the Pounamu we purchased from these guys and really appreciate how they replaced the cord for us a year later.
