NZ SERPENTINE SCULPTURE WAHINE (A281)
Nice light coloured Serpentine from the Arahura River was used in this one of a kind sculpture carved and signed by Peter Tauwhare.
Wahine is the title of this piece.
Peter Tauwhare’s whakapapa traces back to the Arahura river where he sources much of his stone to work with in his small studio not far away.
Using only the most rudimentary tools he applies his craft with a heartfelt karakia to his Ancestors to guide his hand before he starts to breathe life into his creations. Incredibly talented Carver with a unique style of seeing what lies beneath the surface of the stone brings this out in an almost Neolithic style that would be hard to match.
I always feel I am looking at something ancient and other worldly when I am holding a piece of his art.
Will make a wonderful show piece for the office or home.
Measurements:
490 mm height (sculpture only 330mm)
190 mm width (sculpture only 175mm)
190 mm thickness (sculpture only 85mm)
This will be the exact piece you will receive in the photos, there may be a slight degree of colour variation based on different computer or mobile phone screen resolutions that you are viewing from.
BEHIND POUNAMU
Pounamu is so much more than a stone. It holds Wairua (spiritual essence) through its association with the land and its beauty. Each piece lends strength and well-being to the wearer, making it a true gift from the heart. Over time, Pounamu absorbs its owners' natural oils and takes on a beautiful lustre. It is then that the stone's essence becomes one with your own and the stone has truly chosen you.
We love the Pounamu we purchased from these guys and really appreciate how they replaced the cord for us a year later.
HEIRLOOM GUARANTEE
Your Pounamu should last you a lifetime - and more. Pounamu is said to increase in mana as it is passed on through generations. We guarantee that any Greenstone Shop piece will survive to become an heirloom piece, spreading its mana throughout your whanau if it is well cared for, loved and respected.
