Stunning freeform natural boulder touchstone sculptured from Rimu Pounamu. Cradled on a hand cast bronzed base, sitting on a hand crafted recycled native wooden Rimu and Matai table. 

This has amazing presence and would certainly be a focal point where ever it is homed. Its hard not to go past it with out touching the smooth rippled surface.

This 170kg Pounamu was unearthed in 1987 from the Seddon Terrace district near Hokitika, West Coast of the South Island; and was a loved piece in a private collection up till now.

Ngai Tahu registered artisan Dean Taylor spent several months carefully polishing the surface to bring it to its current lustre and beauty while preserving the natural shape of this very special Pounamu.

"Nga Roimata Tangi Aue O Tuawhakarere" (Tears from Ancient Times)

This Pounamu speaks of the deep love from ancient times before Heaven and Earth were separated, and the tears of Aroha (love) that Ranginui - Sky Father wept for Papatuanuku- Earth Mother after they were pushed apart. The tears of which helped to form the mountains and rivers where Pounamu is from.

Pounamu or Greenstone is regarded as a stone sacred to the gods by the Maori of New Zealand. As a Taonga -meaning treasured, and it should be displayed with respect and pride. Pounamu is a gift from the heart.
