A Kawakawa Pounamu Matau that has been framed to become a lovely wall hanging. Carved by Allan Moreton.
The Matau or Fishhook represents strength, good health, luck, and abundance. It gives protection for travellers especially over water; and is considered a good luck charm for anyone with an affinity with the sea.
Pounamu or Greenstone is regarded as a stone sacred to the gods by the Māori of New Zealand. As a Taonga -meaning treasured, and it should be worn with respect and pride. Pounamu is a gift from the heart.
